Who is Writboi?
Residing in Seattle Washington, wristboi (che flores) is a producer/dj who draws inspiration from his Mexican heritage, melding cumbia, reggaeton, dembow, and dance hall with rap, 90’s indie pop music, and obscure/esoteric underground club sounds/tracks.
His experience with music began at the age of five, when he began Suzuki Method classical violin, which he continued until the age of 16, but he also fondly remembers his dad always playing on his guitar, writing and singing songs in Spanish. Wristboi’s production style flows between playful and powerful, taking on cute pop tracks with a reggaeton rhythmic backbone (blink 182 I miss you remix), or simply using percussion as both the driving force, and context for the track at large (Congregation EP). The versatility of his sets can range between 88-160 bpm, and always maintain a cohesive sound, style and expression, regardless of the genres he’s blending or remixing.
